• Belli başlı gıda kaynaklı patojenlerin, özellikle Salmonella  ve Listeria monocytogenes’nin, moleküler tekniklerle (örneğin: vuruşlu alan jel elektroforezi, PFGE;çoklu lokus sekanslama tiplemesi, MLST ve microarray)  ve biyoinformatik araçlar kullanılarak tiplenmesi ve insan ve hayvan izolatlarının epidemiyolojik esaslar çevresinde karşılaştırılması. Bu alandaki deneyimim farklı üretim koşullarında gıda kaynaklı hastalıkların iletimini öncelikle anlamak, sonra da engellemek üzerinedir. Böylece patojenlerin çiflikten insana giden aktarım zinciri kırılmış olacaktır. 

• Genotipik analizler (PAML, Phylogenetic Analysis by Maximum Likelihood ve GENECONV, Gene Conversion Statistical Tests for detecting Gene Conversion) ile Salmonella’nın evrimine ışık tutulması  ve pozitif seleksiyonundaki ve/veya rekombinasyona sahip genlerin tespit edilmesi

• Son yıllarda yaygın olarak ABD’de ve Avrupada salgınlara neden olan Salmonella serotip 4,5,12:i:-  ile tüm dünyada salgınlara neden olan Salmonella serotip Typhimurium arasındaki evrimsel ilişkinin tespit edilmesi
